Month of the Military Child is a time of celebration for the Armed Forces & affiliated communities. Held annually in April, it’s a chance to shine a spotlight on these families, sharing awareness about the positives and challenges of life in and around the Armed Forces.
Being a child or young person from this family can be lonely, with regular relocations making it hard to keep in touch with close friends and extended family, as well as the absence of parents or carers during deployment. However, there are also many wonderful and unique aspects that should be celebrated. Â
Let's close out this month of celebration strong!
Wear Purple on Wednesday
Join the CLAP IN at 7.40AM on 22nd April
We want to thank SES PTA for the wonderful purple dandelion shirts for all of our students. The dandelion is the official flower for Military children – its seeds are blown far and wide by the wind but thrives and grows, we will continue to support and celebrate our children to do the same.

Thank you

Exciting Things Happening at SES!!!

On April 8th the annual SES Coin War began!Â
Coin wars has grown in popularity every year and is not only a great fundraiser but also a mechanism to build spirit and promote friendly competition, not to mention encourages lots of student participation, they take it very seriously.
Students were able to positively impact their grades coin count, but also sabotage other grades. Lots of strategy came into play, and huge shake outs every day.
Congratulations to our 2024 winners. 4th Grade, who pulled out the win despite losing half of their points to a strong sabotage campaign.
All of the proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to fund desired items in our Art and Music departments.
READ ACROSS AMERICA
We recently wrapped up our Read Across America activities bringing reading excitement to children across all of our grades. We want to make our community a place where Read Across America is on everyone's calendar, making time to read with children and celebrate reading.
All of the students were given bingo cards, just 5 in a row and they got a token for the school book vending machine !!! WOW!
For those students that blacked out their bingo card their name was entered into a grade box for a lucky draw. Our Griffin delivered book sets to the lucky winners. Â
Congratulations to everyone.

The Parent Post (PTA)
The SES PTA is extremely important to our school, fostering communication, collaboration, and support between parents, teachers, and the school community, ultimately benefiting students. They serve as a crucial link, enabling parents to be actively involved in their child's education and helping schools access resources and community support. If and when you have the opportunity volunteer for events and fund raising it is much appreciated and is so important to our school & students.
Let's WELCOME the 25/26 SES PTA Board.
- Dorothy Bose & Jessica Roach Co-Presidents
- Whitney Caspers Treasurer
- Elaine Spencer Secretary
Next Tuesday on the 22nd April we have a Month of the Military Child Bootcamp and Vehicle Display. We need volunteers to set up the obstacle course and monitor students as they check out really cool military vehicles. There are several shifts available between 8.00AM and 12.00PM. Please consider signing up at:

Month of the Military Child Post Cards
In honor of the Month of the Military Child, students will be bringing home a special postcard this week, a small gift to help them connect with someone important in their lives.
If your child would like to send their postcard, simply have them drop the completed, addressed card in the Dandelion Express mailbox (inside the school entrance) by Friday, May 17.Â
The PTA will handle postage and mailing—no stamp needed!
